This site is dedicated to bringing useful links and information to the scientist and researcher conducting cell culture and tissue culture during their studies. Cell culture is a method in which cells, whether prokaryotic or eukaryotic, under controlled conditions set by the researcher, are grown, either to be multiplied and/or matured. Furthermore, cell culture is a laboratory technique and method in which cells are able to be manipulated. Tissue culture and organ culture follow similar methods and have developed alongside cell culture. Immortal cell lines are an essential part of cell culture nowadays, and almost all laboratories perform some form of culture.
Cell culture covers numerous topics such as isolation of cells, maintaining cells within culture, problems of cross-contamination of cells and cell lines, media changes, passaging of cells, transfection and transduction, and trypsinization. Cell culture can also be used for the establishment of cells lines and the generation of mixed cells populations as well as mixed cells, such as with the generation of hybridomas.
